As part of World Blood Donation Day, the IMA Blood Bank, Thrissur, and Lions Club International Foundation organized a blood donation camp at Elite College of Nursing on June 20, 2024. The lab department of Elite Mission Hospital assisted with the camp. Prof. Vidhya Viswanathan and Mrs. Carmel Lirin Pinheiro, Assistant Professor, were appointed to oversee the program.
The camp started at 10 am on the college campus with registration. Eligible donors were identified after a weight check, blood grouping, hemoglobin estimation, and a physical check-up, including BP monitoring. One doctor was assigned to perform blood pressure monitoring and the physical check-up.
Eighteen students and nursing faculty donated blood. In addition to the students, many hospital staff members, one doctor, and members of the public also donated blood. Those who donated blood received certificates and refreshments. After the blood donation camp, the IMA team recognized Elite Mission Hospital and Elite College of Nursing with a certificate. The blood donation camp concluded at 1:30 pm.
